About Colette Peeters
Overzicht
Colette Peeters (DO-MSc. Ost.) is an international authority on the osteopathic treatment of obstetrics, gynecology and infertility. She has over 30 years of experience in treating patients, first as a physiotherapist (1991) and later as an osteopath (1996).
Ze heeft de afgelopen jaren een groot osteopathisch onderzoek gedaan met 254 endometriose patiënten.
During her career, Colette has focused on an innovative branch of osteopathy: internal vaginal and anal osteopathic treatments. The focus of her practice is on specific structural and "functional" pathologies and problems such as:
- gynaecology problems
- infertility
- endometriosis
- coccygodynia (tailbone)
- postnatal recovery
- adhesions and scar tissue
In addition, Colette teaches at The International Academy of Osteopathy (IAO), she teaches future generations of osteopaths on an international scale. Colette teaches in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Denmark & Switzerland, among others.
Colette always makes time to discuss the history and problems with each patient in detail. She also works closely with other health care providers, physicians, and even surgeons to map out the patient's overall clinical picture.

Expertise
Colette is een expert in gynaecologische problematieken, endometriose, adenomyose, adhesies (verklevingen), infertiliteit en ontwikkelde zelf een behandelingsmethode bij fertiliteitstrajecten.
Colette werkt sinds jaren samen met de reguliere geneeskunde (huisartsen & specialisten), kinesitherapeuten, vroedvrouwen, seksuologen en andere zorgverstrekkers.
Ze draagt daarbij multidisciplinair communicatie hoog in het vaandel. Die is cruciaal om de patiënt te kunnen behandelen en ondersteunen.
Colette volgt sinds 2015 elke maand chirurgie mee, namelijk gynaecologische en abdominale aandoeningen, endometriose/adenomyosis en infertiliteit. Daarnaast volgde Colette IVF procedures uitgevoerd door Dr. Decleer (Jan Palfijn Ziekenhuis Gent) zoals pick-ups en terugplaatsingen van embryo’s.

Doceren
Colette doceert sinds 2001 voor de IAO in Wenen, Zwitserland, Kopenhagen Nederland en België. Samen met Dr. Petrovits Nicole doceert ze infertiliteit.
Ze doceert post-academische modules over gynaecologische aandoeningen, coccygodynia, andrologie, en in de basisopleiding laat ze de laatstejaars master studenten kennismaken met interne osteopathische behandelingen.
Colette ontwikkelde, samen met Wouter van Stee e.a., de opleiding PAM Kinderosteopathie en doceert de modules zwangerschap en moeilijk postnataal herstel. De modules zijn ook apart van de opleiding te volgen.
Colette is deel van het team Transgender Info Punt UZGent, waar ze transpersonen behandeld met postoperatieve klachten en littekenweefsel.
Ze is ook stakeholder in het nieuwe Europees project Transilience, waar er aandacht gevraagd wordt voor de verkracht van trans jongeren tussen 15 en 25j.
Recentelijk is er ook een samenwerking gestart met Isala, de studiegroep van UZA, over het vaginaal microbiom.
Multidisciplinaire Groepspraktijk
Colette heeft een groepspraktijk (sinds 1996) waar ze samen met andere osteopaten, die door haar worden opgeleid in deze niche, een uroloog, een fertiliteits arts-chirurg, patiënten onderzoekt, bespreekt en samen behandel. Die complementaire benadering is een unieke samenwerking.
Colette maakt ook deel van het multidisciplinair team in Aalter ‘Centrum Decleer’, waar ze samen met de abdominale chirurg, fertiliteitsarts, gynaecologische chirurg, gynaecoloog, en kinesitherapeuten consultaties doet.
Ze werkt daarnaast heel nauw samen met patiënten platformen zoals Behind Endo, EndoAwareness en de documentaire makeres ‘MyEndo’ Ellen en Thomas.
Ze brengt sinds jaren de reguliere en complementaire geneeskunde samen en maakt dagelijks het verschil voor ontelbare patiënten en dat met een zeer gender sensitieve aanpak en passie.

Colette sprak in de Belgische Kamer (2022) naast Prof Tomassetti (Leuven) over de resolutie betreffende endometriose.
Daarnaast gaf ze reeds verschillende interviews in de media (Knack, De Morgen, De Osteopaat, NVO ea.)
Daarnaast kwam ze aan het woord in de podcast ‘Geen Kleine Man’ van Audiocollectief Schik (Radio 1, VRT, VPRO) met Dr. Wim Decleer, fertiliteitsspecialist. Colette nam ook deel aan de podcast Het Cyclus Kompas, in aflevering 5 “Je hoeft geen pijn te lijden” met vroedvrouw Uwe Porters.
Colette wordt regelmatig gevraagd om webinars te geven over endometriose en infertiliteit. Ze spreekt ook frequent op congressen zoals:
